Our founder, Señora Herminia de Losada Robles (RIP) recognized the problematic situation of children of single or abandoned mothers/fathers, or very low income families. She saw how they were left in the care of siblings or neighbors and families members and how the children were in constant danger of abuse, accidents and mal nutrition. 

 

She put up a sign in her restaurant to invite clients and community members to join her cause. That is when in 1999 Capitan Alberto Vargas Aguiñaga joined in her efforts and donated 5000 m2 property and Los Niños del Capitan (The Children of the Capitan) began. 

 

They began as a day care caring for the 7 children who had been abandoned by their mother using a house that was lent to them by Amigos de Los Niños A.C. 

 

In 2001 the first stone was placed and the palapa was built which was the first structure used for the center. Day by day more people joined the cause that flourished into the building and program that we offer today. 

 

Today we assist children from all of the Mexican Republic that come to Los Cabos looking for a better life.
