Our Programs
At Los Niños del Capitan we serve children ages 1 to 10 in two programs. For children ages 1 to 5 we have a day-care and certified preschool and for children ages 5 to 10 we have an elementary school support program.
We currently have 100 children in our programs!
Nursery
Children ages 1 to 3 are welcomed in the nursery program in a safe environment with emphasis on independence, freedom and early stimulation. They are potty trained, shown hygiene and oral care, and given activities to enhance creativity.
Parenting School
The parenting school was created in 2004. We offer counseling and educational workshops for the parents of these children.
Examples of programs offered: Child abuse prevention & detection, Sexual education, Sewing Workshop, Nutrition, & other manual skills for additional income.
Pre-School
We offer certified Pre School for children ages 3 to 5. In October 2005 we became an accredited pre-school and offer Kinder 1, Kinder 2, and Kinder 3. We have 3 classrooms with qualified caring staff. Children leave Pre School having learned how to read and write. These children are offered additional classes such as english, arts & crafts, values, and more when available.
Elementary School
Support Program
To continue our efforts to see that the children 5 to 10 stay in school we have created the Elementary School Support Program. Children are dropped of at 7AM and at the center, they are given breakfast. The center dropps off and picks up from a nearby elementary school when they return they have lunch and are helped with their homework, computer classes, self esteem class, activities and a light dinner. Their parents pick them up at 6:30 pm.
Dental Clinic
We have a dental clinic on site where we offer the children preventive and corrective treatments. We also teach all children oral hygiene and the parents are given workshops on hygiene and nutrition. The facility is also used by other foundations to provide dental & medical care to other children of the Los Cabos community.
Empowering Woman
We partner with Mexico Giveaways in their SHINE program and have a sewing workshop on site.
